100th day of school
It's the 100th Day of School and the STEAM Lab students are counting bottle caps in groups of 100 for their "Caps for Life" campaign.  Classes are competing against each other to see which class can count the most in 25 minutes.  We encourage anyone that would like to donate to this cause to drop your plastic bottle caps off at Snyder Intermediate, City Hall, or Scurry County library.  To date they have collected enough caps for 75 cancer treatmants for children.

It is always fun to visit the zoo! Mrs. Thamez and Mrs. Ceballos' 1st-grade dual language classes turned their classrooms into a zoo. The students researched different animals, wrote about their findings, and created dioramas depicting their habitats. They invited other classrooms and their families to visit their zoo and even made maps and helpful signage for the visitors. #snydertigers #duallanguage

During the afternoon route, the driver of Bus 11 overheard a student make a concerning statement to another student. They immediately informed the school resource officer and administration, and the bus stopped at the intermediate school. Two students were interviewed and exited the bus. Their parents were notified of the situation. The rest of the students are safe and on their way home.

Students, teachers, and families should report any possible threat or concern to the right authorities. We appreciate the students and the bus driver who reported the situation promptly, enabling the authorities to respond quickly.

How to Report a Concern
If you observe any suspicious activity or have any concerns, report them immediately to the school administration or the police. For non-urgent concerns, you may use the “See Something, Say Something” form, which you can find at www.snyderisd.net/safety.

Let’s celebrate the latest round of GOAL GETTERS!
These fourth and fifth-grade students set their sights on a goal and succeeded!
At Snyder Intermediate School, part of our vision is to celebrate academic excellence and goals to provide a roadmap to student success. We believe all students can grow, no matter their academic level.

Goal-getters are recognized after each unit test. Teachers set goals for students based on their previous year's STAAR performance to give students a target for growth. Students learn the importance of setting goals and the work required. Daily assignments and exit tickets provide a window into day-to-day understanding, but unit tests provide a deeper perspective of comprehension and retention. Ask your child about their goals. Be sure to look beyond the overall letter grade and regularly check your child's test grades in Skyward.

Together, we can help your child achieve their best. As always, reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Yesterday, Snyder High School had the opportunity to host a luncheon for SISD School Board Members as a token of appreciation. Culinary students prepared a menu of Creamy Tuscan Chicken with Homemade Pasta, Mediterranean Greek Salad, Kelton's Lemon Cake (a.k.a. Lauren's Luscious Lemon Cake), Tea, & Lemon Water. Everyone was served by NHS members. Education and Training students wrote a book about the School Board Members, made table decorations, and created a Photo Booth. Evergreen - SISD Research and Retail Greenhouse provided plants for each member to take home, along with a personalized wooden plaque created by alumni with the assistance of our Construction and Art students.

Teaching, practicing, and reinforcing good habits is essential in elementary school. Snyder Primary School embraces the "7 Habits" to teach kids skills that will help them not just be successful students, but all-around great human beings!

Habit heroes are a way for teachers to recognize their students who have been following the seven habits throughout the week. When a student is nominated, they get a special leader buck, a leader stick, and they get to sign their name on the habit wall of fame. Ask your kids about the 7 Habits to learn more!

Students are RACING through their work! However, the goal is not to finish first; it's all about the details. Throughout the district, teachers are working with students on the RACE method.

Gone are the days of just multiple choice and true/false questions. Students must demonstrate that they understand and can explain concepts through what the education world calls an extended constructed response (ECR).

R: restate the question
A: answer the question
C: cite your evidence
E: explain your answer

Introducing the RACE strategy to students can help them become better writers. It enables them to organize their thoughts and express their ideas more effectively. Additionally, it promotes critical thinking skills. This strategy can be applied to different types of writing tasks, including but not limited to short responses, paragraph writing, or longer compositions. It is also useful in all subjects!

Parents, you can help us reinforce this concept at home. If your child is working on homework, ask them about the RACE method and encourage them to take their time. As always, if you need help supporting your child or have concerns, contact your child's teacher. We're here to help! #snydertigers
