Minga is used districtwide, with age-appropriate incentives and responsibilities across grade levels. At Snyder Primary, it helps us celebrate students who model positive behavior and live out our Leader in Me habits each day. Students earn points for demonstrating leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and kindness.
Minga also keeps families informed when improvement is needed, strengthening the partnership between school and home.
We are proud of these students for the example they set and the leadership they show in our classrooms, on the playground, and in hallways.

Reminder! Friday, February 6, 2026, is a professional development day for staff. There is no school for students.
Yesterday, after students had been dismissed, a report was received at the Primary Campus regarding a student who was reported to be carrying a gun.
A law enforcement officer who was already on site immediately responded and searched the student’s backpack in the parking lot. The item was determined to be a toy gun (Orbeez, per the officer) that had been painted black. No firearm was found.
Campus administration and law enforcement responded promptly. The district continues to work closely with law enforcement, and any consequences will be handled in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
We want to be clear that this situation was taken seriously and addressed immediately. We also ask families to partner with us by talking with their children about safety and the importance of never bringing toy guns or look-alike items to school or school-related events. Items that resemble weapons can create fear and confusion, even when they are not real.
If you see something, say something. If there is an immediate concern, contact campus administration or law enforcement right away. For non-urgent concerns, reports can be submitted at www.snyderisd.net/stopit.

Snyder ISD continues to closely monitor weather and road conditions as we plan for Wednesday, January 28. At this time, no final decision has been made. District leadership is actively evaluating options and plans to provide an update by 5:00 pm today.
Several factors are still at play, including the extent to which roads have been cleared and treated, surface conditions, and air temperatures throughout the afternoon and evening. Brief periods above freezing and any sunshine can help improve road conditions. However, those improvements can be temporary and depend on how much progress is made before temperatures drop again. Forecasts currently indicate temperatures falling back below freezing tonight, which may lead to refreezing, particularly on bridges, shaded areas, and less-traveled routes.
Our operations team continues working throughout the district, monitoring conditions on campuses, clearing parking lots and sidewalks, checking facilities, and addressing any issues as they arise to ensure buildings are safe and ready for students and staff.
As we evaluate our options, we carefully consider bus route and bus stop safety, staff driving in from out of town, teen drivers traveling to and from school, the wide range of vehicles families rely on, student access to meals and warm facilities, the impact schedule changes have on families, and instructional time for students. All of these factors are weighed together to make the safest and most responsible decision possible.

Our operations team keeps everything running behind the scenes. From salting sidewalks in anticipation of winter weather to every day repairs, we appreciate all they do to support our schools each day!
Mrs. Thamez’s first-grade dual language class was practicing 1 more, 10 more, 1 less, and 10 less with a partner. It was wonderful to see students helping and teaching one another while building their math skills. Hands-on activities like these keep learning engaging and meaningful at Snyder Primary School!

Snyder High School Campus Spotlight: Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE)
Each month, at the Snyder ISD Board of Trustees meeting, a different campus is invited to share the excellent learning experiences happening across Snyder ISD. This month, SHS students proudly shared how TAFE is helping them explore the teaching profession, build leadership skills, and prepare for future careers in education.
During their presentation, students shared that TAFE is a student organization designed to introduce and inspire future educators. Snyder High School recently competed at the Area 7 Conference on November 18, where twelve teams advanced to the Teach Tomorrow Summit and State competition. The Teach Tomorrow Summit will be held in Dallas on February 26–28, and these students are preparing to represent Snyder ISD on a statewide stage. The presentation also recognized the many state-qualifying events and students, ranging from lesson planning and educational leadership to children’s literature and interactive bulletin boards.
Their presentation left us excited and inspired about the future of education!

Our students earned top team finishes and strong individual results, showing the depth of talent and dedication across our academic programs. Snyder High School’s Growth and Human Development classes are getting hands on with real world learning. Students recently practiced swaddling and changing diapers, building practical skills while gaining a better understanding of infant care.
This course focuses on human development from infancy through adulthood studying physical, emotional, and social growth. Lessons connect classroom learning to everyday life, helping students develop skills and awareness they will carry beyond high school.
We are excited to welcome Tiffany Gonzales back to Snyder ISD to teach Spanish at Snyder Junior High! There is something special about coming full circle, and we are proud to have Tiffany returning to the community that helped shape her.
Ms. Gonzales is a bilingual educator who earned her associate degree from Western Texas College and her bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Social Work at Texas Tech University. Her academic background reflects a strong foundation in communication and child development, and a love of learning.
As a first-year teacher, Ms. Gonzales brings fresh energy, a deep connection to Snyder, and a heart for working with children and families. We are excited to support her as she begins this new chapter and grows as an educator.

We are excited to welcome Mrs. Megan Fellows to Snyder ISD! Mrs. Fellows will be serving as the 7th-grade English teacher at Snyder Junior High School, and we are glad to have her join our team. Mrs. Fellows holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Minnesota and brings nearly a decade of experience teaching across elementary and middle school classrooms.
Mrs. Fellows has taught reading, ELAR, social studies, math, and science in multiple districts across Texas. She has a strong background in TEKS-aligned instruction, STAAR preparation, and differentiated learning to meet student needs. Her experience also includes leadership and service through PBIS, campus committees, mentoring, and instructional planning.
With her experience, positive attitude, and desire to make a difference in students' lives, we are confident she will be a wonderful addition to the Snyder Junior High team.
