Facilities Assessment Committee

At the July 2025 Snyder ISD Board of Trustees meeting, the Facilities Assessment Committee presented a comprehensive report outlining the condition of district facilities and recommendations for future improvements.

Committee Overview
Formed in early 2025, the committee included parents, educators, civic leaders, business owners, and community members. Members evaluated campuses through walkthroughs, research, and discussions to prioritize safety, instructional effectiveness, and responsible planning.

Process
The committee created a broad “dream project list,” then used a ranking system to consider the most urgent and high-impact needs. More than half of the original list was eliminated. They also worked with financial advisors to examine funding options and potential tax impacts, considering the increased homestead exemption and exemptions for residents over 65.

Highest Priority Items Identified by the Committee

  • Aging infrastructure at Snyder High School

  • Electrical and HVAC deficiencies across campuses, with the highest priority needs at Snyder Primary and Snyder Intermediate

  • Expansion for Career and Technical Education programs

  • Need for a second gymnasium at SHS with locker rooms and support spaces

  • Campus safety enhancements

  • Upgrades to female locker rooms at SHS

  • Cafetorium addition at Snyder Intermediate School

  • Fine arts facility improvements at Worsham Auditorium, band hall, and choir rooms

  • Improved accessibility for special education services

“We sincerely thank the members of the Facilities Assessment Committee for their time, insight, and dedication,” said Superintendent Bob Rauch. “Their input helps achieve our goal of aligning facility planning with the needs of students and the expectations of our community.”

Alignment with Bond Proposal
The November 2025 bond proposal is based on the priorities identified by the Facilities Assessment Committee. It targets the highest-priority needs in safety, infrastructure, instructional space, and accessibility across all campuses, ensuring that funded projects address the committee’s findings and provide lasting benefits for Snyder ISD students and staff.
