FEDERAL DISASTER-RELATED ASSISTANCE

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been directed to provide assistance following the disaster declaration for several Texas counties (Scurry County included). Individuals and small businesses that sustained losses and live in eligible counties may apply for disaster assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362 or 1-800-462-7585. Because of safety concerns caused by the pandemic, there are no brick and mortar Disaster Response Centers open in Texas. FEMA aid is meant to help with items such as temporary rental or home repair assistance. FEMA provides financial benefits to eligible applicants who are not insured or underinsured. Disaster assistance may include financial assistance for temporary lodging and home repair, low-interest loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. FEMA IS NOT GIVING OUT FOOD VOUCHERS.
