meetings

As Snyder ISD prepares for the 2026-2027 school year, we want to share information about two new opportunities available to families: Tiger Connect Virtual Learning Academy and Homeschool UIL Participation.

We believe the best place for most students is in the classroom, learning alongside their peers and building relationships with teachers, coaches, sponsors, and staff. Those daily interactions are one of the greatest strengths of public education and will continue to be the foundation of Snyder ISD.

At the same time, we recognize that families make educational decisions for many different reasons. Across Texas, school districts are seeing more families explore homeschooling, online learning, and other educational options. Rather than simply watching students leave public education, Snyder ISD wants to provide options that help students remain connected to our schools whenever possible.

Tiger Connect Virtual Learning Academy
Pending final Board approval in July, Snyder ISD plans to launch Tiger Connect Virtual Learning Academy this fall.

Tiger Connect is a virtual learning option for eligible Scurry County students in grades 9-12. Students remain enrolled in Snyder ISD, work toward a Snyder High School diploma, and follow the same graduation requirements, academic standards, and testing expectations as students who attend classes on campus.

Tiger Connect is designed for students who are ready for a virtual learning environment. Admission is not automatic. Students must complete an application, participate in a face-to-face interview, and demonstrate readiness for virtual learning. The review process will include academic performance, attendance history, discipline records, graduation progress, and other student information. Coursework will be delivered through Edmentum, an online learning platform aligned to Texas standards and Snyder ISD graduation requirements.

Tiger Connect is not credit recovery, and it is not intended to be an easier path to graduation. Students will be expected to make satisfactory academic progress, stay engaged in coursework, meet attendance requirements, complete required testing, and follow district policies and the Student Code of Conduct.

One of the key benefits of Tiger Connect is that students remain connected to many Snyder ISD opportunities. Students may continue to have access to UIL athletics, fine arts, academic competitions, on-campus Career and Technical Education classes, electives, clubs, student organizations, counseling services, and other extracurricular opportunities, provided they meet all applicable eligibility and attendance requirements.

Coach Christopher Lozano will serve as the Tiger Connect Lead. He will help monitor student progress, communicate with families, provide support, and offer both virtual and in-person office hours. Students may also be required to attend on-campus meetings, tutoring, testing, or other support sessions when needed.

Homeschool UIL Participation
During the June 9, 2026, meeting, the Snyder ISD Board of Trustees voted 5-0 to allow Homeschool UIL Participation to eligible homeschooled students in accordance with Senate Bill 401.

Homeschool UIL Participation is different from Tiger Connect. Students participating through Homeschool UIL have limited enrollment in Snyder ISD and must live within Snyder ISD boundaries. Their participation is limited to approved UIL activities.

Homeschooled students do not receive Snyder ISD curriculum, instruction, grades, credits, academic services, or a Snyder High School diploma.
Students participating in Homeschool UIL must follow UIL rules, the Student Code of Conduct, extracurricular handbooks, and district expectations for the activities in which they participate.

Eligible homeschooled students may participate in designated UIL athletics, fine arts, and academic activities if they meet all eligibility requirements and participation standards.

More information about Homeschool UIL Participation can be found by visiting www.snyderisd.net/homeschool.

Parent and Student Interest Meetings
Families are invited to attend a parent and student interest meeting on Tuesday, June 23, at the Snyder High School Student Center.

Homeschool UIL Participation Meeting
5:00-6:00 p.m.

Tiger Connect Virtual Learning Academy Meeting
6:00-7:00 p.m.

During these meetings, district staff will review program details, eligibility requirements, application steps, important deadlines, student expectations, and participation requirements.

For Homeschool UIL Participation, the meeting will include information about UIL rules, district policies, required forms, academic eligibility, activity participation, attendance expectations for practices or meetings, and the difference between limited UIL participation and full enrollment in Snyder ISD.

For Tiger Connect Virtual Learning Academy, the meeting will include information about the application and interview process, student readiness for virtual learning, Edmentum coursework, attendance and engagement expectations, academic progress monitoring, required testing, available student support, and opportunities for students to remain connected to Snyder ISD programs and activities.
