Homeschool UIL Participation
2026-2027 School Year
During the June 9, 2026, meeting, the Snyder ISD Board of Trustees voted 5-0 to approve a policy allowing eligible homeschooled students to participate in UIL extracurricular activities in accordance with Senate Bill 401.
Participation in UIL activities is a privilege and requires compliance with all UIL rules, district policies, eligibility requirements, and participation standards.
Homeschool students who meet eligibility requirements are not guaranteed participation, team membership, performance opportunities, leadership positions, or competition eligibility. Participation may be limited based on roster size, auditions, tryouts, coach or sponsor selection, UIL rules, safety considerations, or other district-established criteria.
Snyder ISD reserves the right to deny, suspend, or revoke participation when it is determined to be in the best interest of the student, activity, or district.

What if my child is only interested in spring activities?
Students planning to participate in any UIL activity during the 2026-2027 school year, including spring sports and activities, must meet all participation deadlines. The interest form, including required testing documentation (Step 1), must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on July 23, 2026, and all remaining requirements (Steps 2-5) must be completed by August 1, 2026.
Explanation: While some activities and competitions may not culminate until spring, preparation and participation requirements begin months earlier through offseason workouts, practices, rehearsals, meetings, and other team activities. Students interested in these activities must meet all established eligibility and enrollment deadlines.
Cheerleading and dance require additional advanced planning. Students wishing to try out for the 2027-2028 squads must also meet these deadlines, as tryouts are held during the spring semester of the 2026-2027 school year. Students who do not meet all required deadlines will not be eligible to participate in cheerleading or dance tryouts.
