Snyder Independent School District recently held its first Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee meeting, marking an important step in elevating student voice and strengthening communication between students and district leadership.
The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee was created to provide students with a direct platform to share perspectives on learning, school climate, and campus life, while offering ideas for improvement across the district. All Snyder ISD students in grades 3–12 were eligible to apply for the committee, and all students who applied during the application period were accepted. Committee members met with Dr. Jessica Gore, Interim Superintendent of Snyder ISD, to begin this important work.
The committee’s objectives include gathering student perspectives on learning and school culture, providing feedback on district initiatives, encouraging leadership development and civic responsibility, helping district leaders understand how decisions affect students across campuses, and creating a safe and respectful space for students to share ideas and concerns. During the meeting, students spoke openly about what is going well on their campuses and areas where growth is needed.
The meeting reinforced the value of including student voices in district-level conversations and decision-making.
