Snyder Primary Students Share the Spirit of Giving with Avir Nursing Home Residents
This Christmas season, the first grade dual language classes of Mrs. Ceballos and Mrs. Thamez turned compassion into action by adopting two residents from Avir Nursing Home.
Students donated items from the residents’ wish lists and contributed funds to help purchase needed items. Every gift was carefully wrapped by hand, and each student created a Christmas card filled with kind words and cheerful drawings. The gifts were delivered in person, along with Christmas carols that echoed through the halls and brought smiles to everyone present.

The experience was designed to help students understand that the heart of the season is found in giving and human connection. Through this project, students practiced empathy, generosity, and gratitude in a meaningful, hands-on way.
This marks the sixth year the classes have continued this tradition. Each year, it reinforces an important truth. The lessons students learn in school reach far beyond academics. They shape character, build understanding, and connect generations in ways that leave a lasting impression.
Snyder ISD is proud of these students and teachers for carrying forward a tradition that reflects the values of service, kindness, and community.
