Tuesday's Update (August 12, 2025)

We hope you found this afternoon’s pickup to be an improvement. The first days of the year always take a little longer as we adjust to new routines, but we promise it will continue to get better. Thank you for your continued patience as we refine our process.

Once dismissal began today, we were able to complete pickup in the following timeframes (even with a driveline malfunction!):

  • Pre-K: 20 minutes

  • Kinder: 20 minutes

  • 1st–3rd Grade: 30 minutes

As everyone adjusts, we expect dismissal to continue to improve significantly. Beginning next week, family group dismissal will also help shorten wait times.

Important: To help dismissal run smoothly for everyone, we have listed line-up times below. This will help ensure you’re in the correct line for your child’s grade and keep the process moving efficiently for all families.

Walkers

If your child is a walker and you have not yet notified the front office, please call 325-574-8600. Once walkers leave the building, they are released from our care. Please designate a meeting location and make sure your child knows where to meet you. Some walkers go directly home, while others meet their parent at a specific spot (for example, under a certain tree or in the Colonial Hill Baptist Church parking lot). Walkers are dismissed at their grade’s dismissal time, proceed to the front of the school, and exit through the southeast door.

Independence Day – Thursday, August 14th

On Thursday, August 14th, students will begin walking in on their own. Parents will need to drop their children off in the drop-off line. It’s time to give them the opportunity to build independence and confidence as they start their day.

Thank you for working with us to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient drop-off and dismissal for all students.
