With prom, graduation, and summer just around the corner, we want to remind our students that driving under the influence has devastating consequences.  Earlier in April, Snyder ISD teamed up with City of Snyder Police Department, Scurry County EMS, Scurry County Sheriff's Office, Native Air Snyder, Bell Cypert Seale Funeral Home, Snyder Volunteer Fire Department, City of Snyder Texas City Hall, Texas Department of Transportation, Cogdell Memorial Hospital and Clinics, Scurry County Texas and many more, to bring the Shattered Dreams programs to juniors and seniors at Snyder High School.

This program, originating in the mid-1990s, is designed to educate students, parents, and the community about underage drinking and driving by providing a realistic experience and encouraging them to make positive choices. The presentation is held before the school's prom, on which teenagers are most likely to consume alcoholic beverages.

The program involved the dramatization of an alcohol-related accident staged in Towle Park. While the junior and senior classes watched, police, fire, and other emergency personnel responded to the scene. Student victims were transported to the hospital, while the funeral home transported the deceased student. The drunk driver will be arrested and transported to jail for book-in and arraignment. A mock trial was also held. The events were documented by Snyder High School Film students Lance Wiggins and Payton Pinkerton and the video was produced by Carlos Galindo.

The events in this video are a dramatization of the consequences of drinking and driving.
