SISD School Board

The Tiger family is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own.  A public servant in every sense of the word, Steven Peña’s influence is woven throughout the community of Snyder and Snyder Independent School District.

Steven was a leader and an advocate for Snyder ISD as a parent, a community member, and through his service on the Board of Trustees from 2017- 2019.  Even after his term on the Board of Trustees ended, Steven continued working to ensure the absolute best for the Snyder ISD students and staff.

Steven was always asking what he could do to help. Through his work founding and leading the Snyder Community Resource Center, he helped Snyder students and families take a step forward.  The Back to School Bash provided free school supplies, haircuts, and clothing to hundreds of families each year.  Under his leadership, the SCRC also took on the Blessings in a Bag program to help expand its reach to serve more Snyder ISD students who may have otherwise gone hungry over the weekend.

Snyder Community Resource Center’s reach extended far beyond Snyder ISD and benefited the entire community through emergency housing assistance, facilitating drug and alcohol rehabilitation, and other resources during times of crisis. Undoubtedly, Snyder is a better community because of his tireless efforts to support others.

Steven’s legacy for ministry,  service, advocacy, and compassion has made a meaningful difference in so many lives.  Our prayers are with his wife Mandy, his children, family, and many friends.  We ask that our community surround them with abundant love and support in the days and months ahead, just as Steven has loved our community.
