Weather changed the plans but not the purpose of Snyder ISD’s White Cane Safety Day celebration. Originally scheduled as an outdoor parade, the event moved indoors for an all-school assembly focused on awareness, independence, and inclusion.
During the assembly, Kerstin, a student at Snyder Intermediate School, demonstrated how she uses her white cane and shared an important part of her everyday life with classmates. Her demonstration helped students better understand how the cane supports her independence as she navigates her surroundings.
Community members joined students and staff in support of the celebration, helping make the event a meaningful opportunity to learn about the experiences of people who are blind or have low vision.
The gathering encouraged students to learn from one another, respect different ways of navigating the world, and celebrate the abilities of every student.
Snyder ISD thanks the community members who participated and helped make the celebration special.
