T holds a special place in Snyder High School’s history and in the hearts of many who have called Snyder home. Over the past several days, we have heard from community members who care deeply about that tradition and the student who brings T to life. We appreciate the perspectives shared with us and recognize that some questions remain.
To clarify, on October 2nd we met with this year’s mascot and her family. After a productive and respectful conversation, we agreed the student currently serving as T could continue wearing her approved female costume and accessories and bringing her unique creativity and personality to the role. We appreciate the enthusiasm and school spirit she brings to representing Snyder.
The October 2nd statement was intended to inform the community what they could expect to see from their mascot for the remainder of the school year. Future students who earn the opportunity to serve as T may bring their own personality and portrayal to the role.
We value our traditions, we value the community that cares deeply about them, and most importantly, we value the students who bring those traditions to life.
