campuses

Following approximately a year and a half of study and discussion, and a presentation to the Board by district administration and members of the TIGER Committee, the Snyder ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved an elementary campus reconfiguration for the 2027–2028 school year:

  • Current Intermediate building: PreK–Kindergarten Early Learning Center

  • Current Primary building: Grades 1–5 Elementary Campus

We recognize that Snyder ISD families have experienced campus reconfigurations in the past, and we understand that this news may bring questions. We want our community to know that this decision was not made quickly or without careful consideration.

For the past year and a half, the TIGER Committee, the Teacher Insight Group for Elementary Reconfiguration, has studied the academic, operational, financial, facility, and student experience considerations connected to this change. The committee includes teachers representing each affected grade level, along with support staff and district and campus leaders.

Throughout the process, two priorities have remained at the center of the conversation: what is best for students and what will best support the teachers who serve them.

A dedicated Early Learning Center will allow us to create classrooms, routines, play areas, and support systems designed specifically for the academic, developmental, social, and physical needs of PreK and Kindergarten students.

Bringing grades 1–5 together will provide greater continuity throughout the elementary years. It will also create more opportunities for teachers and support staff to collaborate across grade levels, align instruction and services, and help students transition smoothly from one grade to the next.

This change is still nearly a full school year away. That timeline is intentional. It gives us time to listen, plan carefully, prepare our facilities, and work through important details before welcoming students to their new campuses.

There are still decisions to make regarding classrooms, transportation, playgrounds, campus operations, administrative placements, and other transition needs. Board approval gives us a direction, but it does not mean every detail has already been decided.

Families will receive regular updates throughout the year as plans are developed and finalized. Our goal is to approach this transition with care, transparency, and a clear focus on creating learning environments that better meet the needs of every child.
