SNYDER, Texas — Snyder ISD is proud to announce that Board Vice President Haley Leatherwood has been selected to participate in the Texas Association of School Boards’ Leadership TASB Class of 2027.
Leatherwood represents Place 5 on the Snyder ISD Board of Trustees. She served on the board from 2019 through 2025 and returned to serve in 2026.
Leadership TASB is the premier school board trustee leadership training program of its kind in Texas. The program connects school board leaders to their purpose in serving Texas’ 5.5 million public school students. More than 1,000 trustees have completed the yearlong program since it was established in 1990.
Dr. Jessica Gore said, “I continue to believe that Snyder ISD deserves a seat at the table for all areas impacting public education, funding, and rural districts. I’m honored to work alongside a board member like Mrs. Leatherwood, who believes the same thing is true. Having her serve in this leadership capacity at the state level will add such value to our district.”
Each year, a cohort of experienced board members is selected based on demonstrated leadership within their school districts and communities. Participants represent districts of varying sizes and student populations from across Texas.
“On behalf of TASB, I want to congratulate the newest cohort of trustees on their acceptance into Leadership TASB,” said TASB Acting Executive Director Tiffany Dunne-Oldfield. “LTASB continues to be a highly transformative program, designed to challenge and inspire leaders. Over the next year, these trustees will grow in ways they never anticipated as they expand their knowledge of board governance, education policy, and board leadership, all with the goal of advancing excellent student outcomes for the more than 5.5 million public school students in Texas.”
The program will begin Oct. 7–9 in Houston during txEDCON, the largest gathering of public school leaders in the state. The conference is hosted by the Texas Association of School Administrators and TASB.
Throughout the year, class members will visit school districts and participate in sessions in Houston, Abilene, Austin, and Corpus Christi. The program will conclude in June 2027 at the Summer Leadership Institute in Grapevine. Participants who successfully complete the program will earn the designation of Master Trustee.
