First week photos

weekly recap photos

This week was full of preparation, excitement, problem-solving, and most importantly, our Tigers!

Monday & Tuesday were our final days of preparation, professional development, campus support, and Tiger Takeoffs as we got ready to welcome students.

Wednesday was the 1st day of school, and I truly can’t explain how good it was to be back with our Tiger students. Teachers prepare for weeks for a strong start, and our first day was executed so well. Cabinet, principals and I debriefed at the end of the day to identify ways to make Day 2 even smoother.

Thursday was Day 2! Cabinet was on campuses supporting teachers, students, and the strong systems that are foundational for a successful school year. We also had an exciting conversation about a potential partnership with Mitch Hall Chevrolet GMC in Snyder to support our AutoMech students. (Thank you to Development Corporation of Snyder, Texas - DCOS for this connection.) We debriefed again with principals and assistant principals, and our bus route delivery times were already much shorter! We ended the day with a football scrimmage.

Friday was Day 3. Cabinet continued campus support while I also tackled budget meetings and 1:1s. We had a fun “Hall of Fun” presentation for Coach Rogers and Mrs. Hunter. When the power went out at Junior High, our team quickly regrouped and kept students safe, engaged, and having fun with games and conversations until dismissal.

I’m also grateful to Jacob Kirksey at Texas Tech University College of Education for connecting me with Mary Lynn Pruneda, Director of Education and Workforce Policy for Texas 2036. We had a great conversation about our legislative priorities for the upcoming session and the impact on rural districts.

And…another rescheduled football scrimmage to close out the week!

What a first week. Proud of our students, teachers, staff, administrators, and Cabinet.

We’re off to a strong start, and we’re just getting started!

We believe in: steady work, strong results, and having fun!
