Snyder ISD continues to evaluate how district facilities are used to ensure taxpayer resources are being utilized efficiently and effectively. Snyder High School will relocate its Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) beginning with the 2026-2027 school year.
The program will move from its current off-campus location on Apple Street to a dedicated area within an auxiliary building on the Snyder High School campus. The relocation is part of the district's ongoing efforts to maximize the use of existing facilities, improve operational efficiency, and ensure resources are directed toward student learning and support services. The new location includes dedicated classrooms and restrooms, allowing the program to maintain its distinct learning environment while benefiting from closer access to district staff and resources.
The move will strengthen alignment between DAEP staff and Snyder High School teachers, helping ensure greater consistency in instruction, curriculum, and academic expectations. Students will continue to be served by a certified teacher and instructional aides under the leadership of the Snyder High School principal.
"This move allows us to better align the DAEP program with our high school instructional team and district curriculum while making efficient use of district facilities," said Superintendent Dr. Jessica Gore. "By bringing the program closer to our teachers, administrators, and support services, we can provide greater consistency in instruction and student support while reducing the costs associated with operating a separate facility. It reflects our commitment to making thoughtful decisions that maximize existing resources and serve students well."
District operations staff recently prepared the space for student and staff use, allowing the district to continue providing alternative education services while making responsible use of existing facilities and taxpayer resources.
The Apple Street property will remain district-owned as district leaders continue evaluating long-term facility needs and opportunities. The program's relocation represents one example of the district's ongoing efforts to strategically utilize its buildings and property while maintaining a focus on student success, operational efficiency, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer investments.
