During the June 9, 2026, meeting, the Snyder ISD Board of Trustees voted 5-0 to approve a policy allowing eligible homeschooled students to participate in UIL extracurricular activities in accordance with Senate Bill 401.

The decision follows the Board's annual review of the issue as required by state law. Trustees considered information related to student opportunities, program operations, eligibility requirements, and implementation considerations before taking action.

Under state law and district policy, homeschooled students who participate in UIL activities must meet the same eligibility, conduct, attendance, and participation standards required of enrolled Snyder ISD students. The district will establish procedures to verify compliance with state requirements and ensure consistency across all programs.

District administration will continue to finalize procedures, eligibility requirements, participation standards, and application processes for families interested in participating. Families interested in learning more about homeschool participation in UIL activities are encouraged to watch district communication channels for participation guidelines, application materials, and important deadlines.

The Board and district administration appreciate the input provided by families, staff, and community members throughout the review process and look forward to working together as the new policy is implemented.
