Mrs. Juarez, Mr. Gonzales, and Mrs. Derryberry

Snyder ISD is proud to celebrate Mr. Tom Gonzales as the recipient of the Educational Excellence Career Achievement Award.

Known affectionately as “Mr. G,” Tom Gonzales has devoted more than 30 years to teaching at Snyder High School, leaving a lasting mark on generations of students. Even after his initial retirement, he returned to the classroom, continuing to invest in students and support colleagues as a mentor teacher.

Mr. Gonzales is widely respected for his calm, steady approach and his ability to connect with every student who walks through his door. In the classroom and beyond, he has challenged students to pursue excellence while also appreciating the small things along the way. His encouragement, genuine smile, and consistent presence have made a lasting impression on countless students, including many who have gone on to become educators themselves.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Gonzales is also known as a photographer, business owner, and trusted friend to many. Still, it is his role as a teacher and mentor that defines his legacy. At Snyder High School, he is more than an educator. He is a true example of what it means to dedicate a life to serving others.

There is simply no one quite like Mr. G, and Snyder ISD is deeply grateful for the impact he continues to make in our community.

Mr. Gonzales was surprised with this honor at tonight’s Snyder Chamber of Commerce Banquet.
