Snyder Independent School District is proud to announce that multiple Snyder High School students have recently advanced to national-level competitions, representing their school and community on some of the highest student stages in the country.
Snyder High School student Sophia Alderete has qualified for the national conference through Educators Rising, advancing with her Children’s Literature book.
Sophia will compete at the 2026 Educators Rising National Conference, scheduled for June 20–23 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon.
Students compete at the state level through the Texas Association of Future Educators, a co-curricular organization that supports students interested in pursuing careers in education. TAFE is part of the Teaching and Training pathway offered at Snyder High School, one of twelve Career and Technical Education programs that provide students with opportunities to explore career fields while still in high school.
Through these programs, students gain hands-on experience, develop professional skills, and have opportunities to earn industry-based certifications prior to graduation.
Snyder High School student Xachariah Johnson has advanced to Nationals in Congressional Debate and will represent SHS this June in Richmond, Virginia.
Xachariah placed third overall in the House section of Congress, earning his qualification to the national tournament. He also placed second overall in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Competitors may advance in only one event.
In addition, Jaxon Angeley and Dagan Carthel were selected to serve as members of a World Schools Debate team composed of five high-achieving students from the district.
As these students prepare to compete at the national level, the district celebrates their dedication and the opportunities that allow them to excel beyond the classroom.
