For the safety of students and staff, Snyder ISD will remain closed on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. All extracurricular activities scheduled for Wednesday will also be cancelled or rescheduled. For event updates, visit www.snyderisd.net/events.
Reports of icy roads and dangerous conditions have been received throughout the county. District leadership has been monitoring road conditions throughout the day, while our operations team has been working across the district to monitor campuses, clear parking lots and sidewalks, check facilities, and address issues as they arise. Although some improvement occurred earlier, forecasts indicate temperatures falling back below freezing overnight, increasing the risk of refreezing, particularly on bridges, shaded areas, and less traveled routes.
As always, multiple factors were carefully considered in making this decision, including bus route and bus stop safety, staff traveling in from out of town, teen drivers traveling to and from school, the wide range of vehicles families rely on, student access to meals and warm facilities, the impact schedule changes have on families, and instructional time for students.
Here is an update from Dr. Jessica Gore, Interim Superintendent, following her campus visits this afternoon as she carefully weighed conditions before making the final decision:
We understand that schedule changes create challenges for families, and we appreciate your patience and flexibility as we navigate these conditions together. District leadership will continue to monitor weather and road conditions and will share updates regarding Thursday as soon as possible.

We have enough minutes built into our instructional calendar; therefore, we do not anticipate needing to make up this day later in the year.
Please continue to check ParentSquare, the district website, and Snyder ISD social media for updates.
