Excitement is building as preparations kick off for this year’s Scurry County Stock Show. Recently, the Scurry Stars division embarked on a hands-on experience at the Ag Barn, where Snyder High School students met their future livestock.

As part of the Scurry Stars program, students are paired with experienced exhibitors to ensure a supportive introduction to showing livestock. While some students initially felt nervous, they quickly became enthusiastic about feeding and petting the animals.

The program's objectives include building confidence, enhancing knowledge of animal care, and fostering interpersonal skills. Participants will learn to show a variety of animals, including chickens, goats, lambs, and pigs. The culmination of their efforts will be showcased in January when these Scurry Stars step into the ring at the stock show.
