Snyder ISD is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Kalum McKay as the district’s new Director of Human Resources. Dr. McKay brings extensive experience in campus and district-level leadership from across Texas and succeeds Dr. Jeremy Aguirre, who was recently named Principal of Snyder Primary School.
Most recently, Dr. McKay served McCamey ISD as the Assistant Superintendent, where he oversaw human resources, federal programs, payroll, PEIMS, food service, and other district-wide operations. His career also includes successful tenures as an elementary and middle school principal, where he guided an Improvement Required campus to higher performance, as well as classroom and coaching roles in social studies and athletics.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. McKay to Snyder ISD,” said Mr. Bob Rauch, Superintendent of Schools. “His blend of leadership experience, HR expertise, and deep understanding of instructional and operational systems will be a tremendous asset. We look forward to the positive impact he and his family will have on our district and community.”
Dr. McKay earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lamar University, a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Wayland Baptist University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University. He also holds Texas certifications as a superintendent, principal, and in multiple teaching fields. His leadership philosophy centers on building systems that elevate student achievement and strengthen employee engagement.
Joining him in the Tiger family are his wife, Shelbie McKay, who will serve as the new counselor at Snyder Intermediate School, and their two daughters—one entering 7th grade at Snyder Junior High School and one entering 10th grade at Snyder High School.
