Snyder Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Robbert Helms as the new Director of Finance. Mr. Helms brings more than 25 years of experience in accounting, financial leadership, and operational oversight, including nearly a decade of success in Texas public school finance.

In his role at Snyder ISD, Mr. Helms will oversee all financial operations of the district, including accounting, budgeting, payroll, purchasing, grant management, and financial reporting. He will advise the Superintendent and Board of Trustees on financial matters and support the district’s commitment to transparency, stewardship, and student-focused budgeting.

Mr. Helms most recently served as Chief Financial Officer at Peaster ISD, where he was responsible for managing all finance, payroll, and purchasing operations. He presented a preliminary balanced budget for the 2025–26 school year, helping the district address a previously adopted $1.2 million deficit. Prior to that, Mr. Helms served as CFO at Irion County ISD, where he led the district through six consecutive Superior ratings on the TEA’s Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) and managed a successful $19 million bond project from passage through construction.

His earlier roles include Director of Finance at Wink-Loving ISD, where he played a key role in supporting a $53 million bond initiative, and Controller roles in the private sector with multi-million-dollar companies. Across both public and private sectors, Mr. Helms has demonstrated strong fiscal management, effective team leadership, and a commitment to long-range planning.

“We are excited to welcome Mr. Helms to Snyder ISD,” said Superintendent Bob Rauch. “His extensive experience in both school and corporate finance, along with a strong track record of guiding districts through budget planning, bond management, and audit preparation, will strengthen our financial operations and support our mission of educational excellence.”

Mr. Helms holds a Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Houston–Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management from the University of Houston. He is also a Registered Texas School Business Administrator (RTSBA), certified through the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO). Mr. Helms is excited to return to West Texas to be closer to his family in Midland. He and his wife, Michelle, have two children and two granddaughters.

Throughout his career, Mr. Helms has demonstrated a keen ability to lead with both precision and purpose. He is known for his collaborative leadership style and for building systems that ensure fiscal responsibility while maximizing resources for students and staff.
