At 1:05 PM, a staff member accidentally triggered a lockdown alert for the Intermediate School through Snyder ISD’s emergency notification app. As a result, Snyder Intermediate School and Snyder Primary School went into lockdown status. Snyder Junior High School entered a secure status, and Snyder High School—then in open-campus lunch—immediately secured all exterior doors and moved students indoors.

District protocols were followed swiftly and effectively:

  • All campuses remained in lockdown or secure status for 11 minutes or less.

  • Communication with all campus principals occurred immediately following the alert to ensure student safety.

  • District administration was on-site at Snyder Intermediate within one minute.

  • Multiple law enforcement agencies arrived within two minutes.

Although the alert was accidental, we are proud of the rapid and coordinated response by our staff and law enforcement partners. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and today's incident demonstrated the effectiveness of our safety procedures and partnerships.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families and community.
