Girls Golf State Champions

The Lady tigers fired a 309 on the second day of competition to win

the State Championship. That was a new course record for 18 holes at the

State Tournament. The team carded a 634 for the two days to defeat

Dallas Highland Park by seven strokes for the championship.

Patty Grimmett coached volleyball and track

at SHS from 1978 to 2002. Coach Grimmett

was the head volleyball coach from 1988 – 2002 and lead

her Lady tigers to 11 playoff appearances out of 14 years.

She had two district, three bi-district and one area

championship.

Her coaching record in Snyder was 373-231 and was

Coach of the Year in 1999. Coach Grimmett had 526

victories in her 35 years of coaching volleyball. In her 18

years as Head Track Coach, she had 36 individual district

champs, 83 individual Regional Qualifiers, 10 individual

Regional Champions, 12 State Qualifiers and five Texas Girls Coaches Association All

Stars. Even after retirement, Patty continues to help

keep the books for SHS volleyball games.

Jonathan is a 2001 graduate of Snyder High School

and has been a life long Tiger fan. You will see him at

all the games and he hosts a Coaches Corner with the

head football coach every Friday morning.

Kyle is a 1980 graduate of SHS and a two sport

letterman. Kyle was district MVP, TABC All-State

and 1 st Team All-South Plains in basketball and 1 st

team All District in baseball. His game winning

shot against Borger won the 1980 Regional

Basketball Championship and sent the Tigers to the

State Tournament where they finished as State

Runner-up. Later that spring, Kyle played on the

Tiger’s State Semi-Finalist baseball team. Kyle

attended Angelo state University and went on to a

successful high school coaching career. In his 31

years of coaching across the state, he won 507

basketball games and coached 22 State Qualifiers in

a variety of sports including

a Girls State Track Championship in 2000, the 2003 Girls State Singles Tennis

Champion, and a 2013 State Semi-Finalist team in girls basketball.
