Norman "Shorty" Grimmett

Norman "Shorty" Grimmett  2009 Hall of Honor Inductee

Norman Grimmett, class of 1956, was Snyder’s first 1st Team All-State football player. Shorty was co-captain of the 1955 Tiger team and was awarded the Carl Herod Trophy as the team’s MVP. He was also awarded the Texas Sports Roundup Association Award for distinguished and meritorious achievement in the Realm of Sports.

Shorty played four years on a football scholarship at Hardin Simmons University for Coach Sammy Baugh and was selected Honorable Mention All-Border Conference Guard in 1959.

After graduation he served for 21 years in the US Army, retiring at the rank of Lt. Colonel.
