Continued Success for SHS Speech and Debate

This past week, Snyder Speech and Debate competed in the National Speech and Debate Association National Qualifying Tournament.  Twenty-eight schools around West Texas competed for a bid to the National Tournament that will be held in June in Louisville, Kentucky. When the votes were tallied, Snyder Speech and Debate made a bit of history again. Sidni Hunter earned a National Tournament bid in World Schools Debate. She will join a team that will be composed of four other students from Tascosa HS and Amarillo HS to compete in this event. She is the first student, from Snyder HS, to ever compete at the national level in World Schools Debate. If that was not enough, Will Haley won the Humorous Interpretation event and earned Snyder's first-ever national bid in Humorous Interpretation. Other national qualifiers for the National tournament were Bryant Craig and Shelby Powell. Their events are yet to be decided as they were awarded supplemental bids based on a variety of factors.
