Message from the Superintendent

October 21, 2021

The last year and a half has been challenging for everyone and reshaped how schools operate daily.  We have been faced with difficult decisions, and we know we have not pleased everyone. However, at the forefront of each decision was the overall safety of our students, staff, and the community.

We have had a steady decline of COVID-19 cases in our district during the last few weeks; therefore, we have decided to implement a new color-coded system for visitor access.  If our COVID-19 case numbers remain extremely low, beginning November 1, 2021, all campuses will return to a β€œnormal” status. We will use a color-coded system to identify the COVID protocol status for campuses and the district.

The following protocols remain in place regardless of campus status until further notice:

  • Masks are optional.

  • Students and staff who test positive for COVID-19 or who live in the same household as someone who has COVID-19 will be required to follow Snyder ISD COVID-19 guidelines for isolation and quarantine, including providing notification to the school/campus nurse.

  • Visitors who have tested positive for COVID-19 or who have been instructed to the quarantine may not come on campus during the required isolation/quarantine period.

  • COVID-19 testing is optional and free for Snyder ISD students and staff at designated times.

The community may view the Snyder ISD COVID-19 case count on the Snyder ISD website at www.snyderisd.net/covid. QR codes with this link and a colored dot indicating the current campus visitor status will be posted at the front entrance.

We will continue to monitor the situation, and should there be an increase in cases, we will make adjustments.   We appreciate the efforts of our community to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and for your continued cooperation and support.

Sincerely,

Eddie Bland, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools, Snyder ISD
