Annual Recycling Challenge

Snyder ISD is excited to announce the success of its 11th annual Recycling Challenge, held the week of November 13th. This collaborative effort demonstrates a commitment to environmental sustainability by encouraging responsible plastic recycling and waste reduction.

The event began with the City of Snyder placing roll-off dumpsters at the Snyder Primary and Intermediate Campuses, providing a convenient avenue for students and staff to contribute to the cause. The enthusiasm displayed by the students was evident, with some reporting they had been collecting plastics since the conclusion of the previous year's competition. Trailers loaded with bags of plastics were brought in, while others gathered what they could throughout the week.

The collection event concluded with the award ceremony on Friday, November 17th. The event was broadcast live to elementary classrooms throughout the district and hosted by Snyder Intermediate STEM club students and special guest sponsors. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/WTrjeH8dfJU

Prizes and swag bags were made possible thanks to the generosity of their sponsors: West Texas Council of Governments, City of Snyder, Coca-Cola, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Keep Texas Beautiful. Their support and contribution were instrumental in making this event a resounding success.

"Every year, this challenge brings our community together in a shared commitment to environmental stewardship," remarked Mrs. Torres, STEM teacher and Recycling Challenge Project Coordinator at Snyder ISD. "The passion and dedication displayed by our students, coupled with the support of our sponsors, are instrumental in fostering a culture of sustainability within our schools and city."

The Snyder ISD and the City of Snyder express their heartfelt gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers who made this year's 11th Annual Recycling Challenge successful. The results reaffirm the community's dedication to preserving the environment for future generations.
