Why all this talk about attendance? Studies show that chronic absences — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school.

Attendance has improved overall this year over last year - great news! This week, we had 94.53% of students in attendance at school! That means we have about 132 students absent each day.

This week's statistics:
Snyder Primary: 94.73%
Snyder Intermediate: 96.95%
Snyder Junior High: 95.30%
Snyder High School 92.55%

Unfortunately, high school attendance has decreased slightly compared to the previous year, with about 9% of juniors and seniors missing school each day. In high school, attendance is crucial, as students who are absent for more than 10% of the time may face the risk of not graduating.

We're taking a strong stance on attendance this year because attendance matters. Students are more likely to succeed in academics when they attend school consistently.

Chemistry students in Mr. Nelson’s class are using their new electronic balances! Here, they are working on conversions for a mass lab investigation. These balances were made available to them thanks to the Snyder Education Foundation's generous contribution.

Snyder High School will have an Open House on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Our Culinary Arts department will provide cookies and drinks and report cards will be distributed. If you are unable to attend, report cards will be given to your child during their 2nd period class on Wednesday, September 20. We look forward to seeing you there!
