Attention 8th Grade Parents! Is your student interested in taking dual-credit college classes while in high school? Perhaps they are interested in a P-Tech Pathway like automotive, carpentry, computers, drones, healthcare, law enforcement, oil & gas, plant science, teaching, or welding. Or, maybe they want to pursue both! Snyder High School will host a parent meeting Tuesday, April 12 at 6 PM in the SHS cafeteria to answer any further questions for dual credit/P-TECH courses. Also on the 12th, during WIN periods, SHS will visit Junior High students interested in Dual-Credit/P-Tech. They will discuss how students can earn tuition through the Opportunity Scholarship.

Of those who volunteered, 89% of all sticks were fellow students and 11% were family, faculty, and outside volunteers! We appreciate everyone who volunteered their time (and blood) to help these students earn valuable experience in the healthcare field. They have completed the didactic and skills part required. #TigerNation, yesterday, your Snyder High School band competed in the annual UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest. For the first time in 5 years, the band received an overall rating of Division 1 in the concert AND sight reading portions of the contest! The bands are adjudicated by 3 judges in each portion of the contest. Today Scurry County EMS visited the Health Sciences Class to teach STOP THE BLEED. Each student received certification as a provider. This is their second week of First Aid and patient triage in Principles of Health. In addition to this training, students will receive a BLS card ( CPR). Additional emergencies that will be covered will be poisonings and splinting of fractures. At the end of the year, students will apply this knowledge in a mass injury staged event.

Snyder High School students in the Culinary Arts Program catered the meal for the January Board of Trustees meeting! On the menu were enchiladas with rice and beans, sopapilla cheesecake, horchata, and iced tea. The Culinary Arts Program of study introduces CTE learners to careers and educational opportunities in planning, directing, and coordinating activities in the foodservice industry.
