attend today, achieve tomorrow

Dear Snyder ISD Families,

We understand that some families may have concerns about sending their children to school while the COVID-19 pandemic continues.  We are working hard to provide the best educational experience possible while keeping staff and students safe.

In compliance with current law, Snyder ISD will not be offering virtual school during the 2021-2022 school year.  Students that have to be out of school due to testing positive for COVID-19 or close contact with someone who has the COVID-19 will be absent from school.  Please contact the teacher or check Schoology for assignments during the required period of absence.

Students who have not tested positive or identified as a close contact are expected to attend school every day to comply with the State of Texas compulsory attendance laws. Students that are not attending school due to the parent’s general concern about COVID-19 will be counted as absent and all truancy laws will be enforced.

If in-person school is not a feasible option, parents can choose to withdraw their children from Snyder ISD and enroll the children in one of the state-approved virtual school districts.  The approved virtual school districts can be found on the Texas Virtual School Network website, https://txvsn.org/.   Parents choosing to withdraw their children that fail to enroll their children in another school district will remain subject to the compulsory attendance laws in Texas.

Efforts continue to mitigate the spread of COVID-19  by promoting frequent hand washing, sanitizer use, physical distancing when possible, and proper respiratory etiquette.  Additionally, our custodial team diligently disinfects classrooms and high-touch surfaces throughout the day and utilizes the E-mist electrostatic sprayer system for additional disinfection after-hours. While not required, face masks are highly encouraged, considering our community’s high transmission rate of COVID-19.  To quickly identify positive COVID-19 cases and limit transmission, we offer free rapid COVID-19 testing for Snyder ISD staff.

We believe each family makes decisions that are in the best interest of their child and we encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Eddie Bland, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools, Snyder ISD
