ACADEMICS

Students enjoy an array of academic options above and beyond the basics. Advanced courses are available through dual-credit college courses and honors courses in English, math, social studies, and science. Students may pursue their interests and try something new through a wide range of electives.

ATHLETICS

Athletics at Snyder High School is about more than a score. We emphasize moral character, perseverance, teamwork, and commitment. Tigers may compete in football, volleyball, tennis, cross country, basketball, softball, baseball, golf, soccer, track, and powerlifting.

FINE ARTS

Award-winning programs in theatre, choir, art, and band provide an enriching and well-rounded education.

ENDORSEMENTS

All High School students will choose an endorsement to earn.This will structure the student's courses to meet graduation requirements based on a related area or skill set.

Once a student has chosen an endorsement, students may choose to enroll in the P-TECH Program to obtain an associate degree and/or industry-based certification prior to High School Graduation.


SNYDER HIGH SCHOOL IS A PATHWAYS IN TECHNOLOGY EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL

(PTECH) offering 10 pathways allowing students to explore careers ranging from renewable energy to healthcare. Through a partnership with Western Texas College, Texas State Technical College, and leading area businesses, students will not only earn a high diploma, but will earn an industry-based certification, a college-level certificate, or an associate's degree upon graduation.

NETWORKING SYSTEMS | Informational Technology Certificate / CCENT

RENEWABLE ENERGY | Associate of Science and/or FAA Section 107-Pilot License

PLANT SCIENCE | Floral Design Certificate

AUTOMOTIVE | Level 1 and/or Level 2 Certification and/or ASE Certification

OIL & GAS EXPLORATION & PRODUCTION | Petroleum Certificate

WELDING | Beginning Certification

TEACHING & TRAINING | Associate of Arts in Teaching or Childhood Development - students may earn a Bachelors from Texas Tech University within one year of graduating High School

HEALTHCARE THERAPEUTIC | EMT, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Tech, Medical Assistant

LAW ENFORCEMENT | Associate of Applied Science, Criminal Justice and/or Level 1 Certificate

Dual-Credit College Courses | Students may earn all or some credits required to complete an associate degree. Students who are enrolled in PTECH may also take college credit, up to an associate's degree, through Texas State Technical College or Western Texas College.


ADVANCED ACADEMICS

Students who desire a more challenging academic environment may enroll in honors courses, dual-credit college courses, and choose from a variety of robust electives. Students may also compete in UIL academic events and career technical student organizations.

ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

Students who need additional support have a variety of options:

When needed, our certified staff will meet with the parent, student, teacher, and other staff to develop a plan for success.

The counselors at SHS assist students with course selection; career, college, and trade exploration; and guidance with mental and social health.
